LACFAEA BROCHURE HISTORY

During the heyday of employee activism in the 80’s, the members of LACFAEA had nothing to use to reach out to potential members. All they had was “The Motivator”, LACFAEA’s  8”-by-11” official organ, of which P.Bebs Tantoy was the editor-in-chief since 1975. When he became the president in 1986, he drafted a brochure, the very same brochure we are seeing now, though of a simpler color (purple) – to encapsulate the cause and message, the mission and vision of LACFAEA. He saw the need for a short primer or convenient hand-out to describe in brief to the rank and file of Filipino County employees the association and its ideology. The rest is history, all the way beyond the end of his term in 1989.

Down the years this brochure figured like a little hotcake on many an occasion, especially the Philippine Independence Day at the County administration courtyard.  It converted to membership many of our “kababayans” who were otherwise uninformed about what LACFAEA is all about. The brochure we have now is a labor of love and lots of midnight oil, looking new and fresh to suit the computer age, re-drafted and re-edited by the same author in his spare time, then laid out and printed beautifully with the brilliant colors of the Philippine flag by Marie C. Pecson, Board member and the other half of the two-person ad hoc brochure committee which was willed into existence in a Feb. 6, 2008 meeting, with the “imprimatur” of the incumbent president, Marty Tobias. Names have been added to show the members of the Executive Board, but otherwise it is the same original draft of 1986, only tweaked around a little bit to jibe with our improved mission and vision and fit snugly into the website serviced by Ric Angeles. Take the time to read it – to be familiar with where we’re coming from, the dreams we have in mind, and the causes we’re fighting for. This short and simple pamphlet should answer basic questions about who we are, what we do, and where we’re going.
